Microsoft Project vs Microsoft EPM

Microsoft Project training on Microsoft Project Standard can deliver many of the benefits of EPM without the complexity and costs that EPM requires

Microsoft’s Enterprise Project Management (EPM) offers a comprehensive Project to Portfolio Management software to help organisations gain visibility and control across all work, enhancing decision-making, improving alignment with business strategy, maximizing resource utilisation and enhancing project execution to optimise ROI.

However the cost of entry many organisations can be considerable – not only from a software perspective but from the associated consultancy, organisational change management and IT resourcing or hosting which Microsoft has estimated can be an order of magnitude more than the software costs - and it can be hard to know how to justify the effort and costs of a migration to EPM.

One approach to resolve this is to ensure that Microsoft Project training for Microsoft Project Standard has already provided all the benefits it can for the organisation.  Once an effective training program for Microsoft Project Standard has been achieved or a productivity process such as a Microsoft Project Health Check completed, a functionality gap analysis can then determine if there is still a business case for migrating to EPM.

EPM has many key drivers such as:
  Unified Project Management
  Visibility through Reports

  Recording Actuals and Tracking Progress
  Resource Management
  Scheduling management
